Major Part Of
Obi-Wan Kenobi
By ZACHARY LEEMAN
One of the biggest surprises to come out of Disney+'s "Obi-Wan Kenobi" has been the introduction of young Leia Organa. One of the writers of the show has recently come forward and explained why young Leia ended up playing such a major role in the dark continuation of the prequel trilogy.
According to "Obi-Wan Kenobi" writer Joby Harold, the history of Leia and Obi-Wan being shown in the new Disney+ series plays directly into one of the most famous lines from George Lucas' original trilogy. “‘Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope,’’ feels less arbitrary when we know the history the two characters have together.
Additionally, their bond in the new series makes it clearer why Leia honors Obi-Wan by naming her son Ben. In fact, as Harold explained, Leia being in danger is the only thing that would get Obi-Wan away from Tatooine, where he is keeping a close watch over Luke.
