Doctor Strange 2

Before the release of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," there was a shot of a super being battling the Scarlet Witch that fans believed was Superior Iron Man (the Illuminati variant of Tony Stark), with some theorizing that Tom Cruise would be playing him. However, the super being turned out to be Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, and the Tom Cruise cameo never came to pass.
Writer Michael Waldron admitted in an interview that he did want Cruise to make a cameo and even threw his name out to the Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige. Furthermore, Cruise actually has a connection to Marvel, as back in the ‘90s, he was considered for the role of Tony Stark, which of course eventually went to Robert Downey Jr. years later.
While some fans did a frame-by-frame examination of the trailer to prove that Cruise was in the movie, Waldron assured that there was no cut footage of the movie star. In fact, Cruise wasn’t even approached, as he already had a packed schedule with "Top Gun: Maverick" and parts one and two of "Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning."
