Reason Romance
In Naruto
Doesn't Work

“Naruto” is an extremely popular manga and anime series mostly known for lightning-fast hand signs and epic ninja fights, but some fans have questioned why the series seems to fall flat when portraying romance. A Reddit user (who has since deleted their account) provided some possible answers as well as opinions on the romance that is present within “Naruto.”
The Reddit user expressed their love for the pairing of Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyūga, claiming that it was the only pairing that made sense due to the Taoist themes present in “Naruto.” They didn’t hesitate to drag the pairing of Naruto and Sakura Haruno through the mud in the process, claiming those who like it are ignorant about romance.
The Redditor also stated that the creator of “Naruto” himself, Masashi Kishimoto, has been candid about his inability to write romance. Indeed, user Shinobi1jutsu, posting on Fanverse.org, called the romantic moments in “Naruto” “awkward, forced, bizarre, and unrealistic.” Still, the series remains a success because it has many strengths unrelated to romance.
