The Moon Knight Theory That Will Make You Look Twice At Arthur Harrow

By MIKE BEDARD

THIS STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR "Moon Knight," Episode 2.

SPOILER WARNING!

A lot of questions remain after the first two episodes of “Moon Knight,” including what the deal is with Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and his cult. While we know that Arthur seeks to judge and punish people for both past and future actions, he's still shrouded in mystery.
What was it about him exactly that made Khonshu want to latch onto him initially? Why does he have the power to cast judgment onto others? One theory holds that Arthur Harrow is the Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis, and there are a couple of pieces of evidence to support this.
In Egyptian mythology, Anubis holds the power to judge people's souls, as Harrow claims to do, and he has the head of a jackal, recalling the monstrous jackals that Harrows sends after Moon Knight. Marvel does enjoy keeping the true villain secret, so we'll just have to wait and see.
