Kelsey Asbille's Monica Dutton has been through a lot over the course of “Yellowstone,” including single parenting, working as a professor, and advocating for the people of Black Rock reservation. However, audiences haven’t seen Monica do much recently, except occasionally react to various traumas.
Season 4, Episode 6 sees Monica interacting with Avery, a character who has been presented as a potential threat to Kayce and Monica’s relationship. Upon seeing Kayce and Avery interact for less than 30 seconds, Monica becomes jealous, which is nothing like the smart and introspective Monica of previous seasons.
Many viewers did not have kind things to say about the character’s sudden jealousy, with some suggesting that the show has problems with its female characters in general. One even quipped that the writer who wrote this arc “needs to be taken to the train station,” alluding to the way the Duttons make people disappear.
