The Marvel Movie You Likely Forgot Starred Sam Elliott

By TIM LAMMERS

Sam Elliott's illustrious career has earned him over 100 IMDb credits that include appearances in the Coen brothers' classic "The Big Lebowski" and his Oscar-nominated performance in Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut “A Star is Born.” However, his impressive resume also includes a forgotten Marvel superhero movie.

Before the sprawling MCU films began in 2008 with director Jon Favreau's "Iron Man," several Marvel movies were made by different studios that owned the rights to various characters. Universal Pictures released Ang Lee’s “Hulk” in 2003 and it starred Sam Elliott as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.

Ross is Betty Ross’ father, who is Bruce Banner’s love interest in the movie, however, Elliott's tenure as Ross did not continue when Universal rebooted the franchise in 2008 with "The Incredible Hulk." Unfortunately for Elliot, William Hurt took over the role of Thaddeus Ross and managed to reprise his role in five other MCU movies.
