The Hocus Pocus
2 Scene That
Breaks Reality
By NICK STANIFORTH
The highly anticipated “Hocus Pocus 2” has already earned tons of praise from fans who loved the first film, and the Sanderson sisters are more powerful than ever. Despite the positive response to the movie, though, one scene included an Easter egg that left audiences confused.
While wandering through Salem to cause trouble with her sisters, Winifred peers through a living room window and catches a glimpse of the TV. On the screen is a scene from the original “Hocus Pocus,” when the Sanderson sisters stumbled upon a man dressed as the Devil bickering with his wife on Halloween.
Shortly after, another couple appears dressed as the elderly husband and wife Winifred saw on TV. These meta moments were likely intended to be an appreciative nod to the first “Hocus Pocus” movie, but the mind-bending, reality-breaking nature of the Easter eggs felt sorely out of place with the rest of the story.
