After a successful 15-season run, “Supernatural” finally ended in 2020, but news of a prequel series was announced a year later. When Jensen Ackles, who’s returning as Dean in “The Winchesters,” shared the news on Twitter, his “Supernatural” co-star replied shortly thereafter.
Misha Collins, who played the beloved Castiel on “Supernatural,” responded to Ackles tweet by replying, "Seems like this show would benefit from a time-traveling angel-in-a-trenchcoat character. Just saying." Based on the replies, a good number of "Supernatural" fans wouldn't be opposed to such an addition to the show.
Although some fans in the replies expressed their desire to move on from the “Supernatural” universe stating they weren’t very interested in a prequel at all. In spite of the naysayers, "The Winchesters" will arrive on October 11, 2022, and for the sake of Misha Collins and those who are hopeful to see more Castiel, fingers crossed he pops up on the divisive prequel series.
