Long-running game show "The Price is Right" has featured many celebrities over the years, but back in 1980, a then-unknown Vanna White participated as a contestant. Her appearance was a breakthrough moment in a burgeoning career and happened before she starred in the TV movie “Midnight Offerings” or the Nell Carter-led sitcom “Gimme a Break!”
In the episode, White squeezed her way past the unchosen in her aisle to dash toward the stage, long dark-blond hair held by sunglasses atop her head streaming behind her, and wearing a blue T-shirt that read “Get Serious.” A huge smile on her face, she jogged over to join the other players, taking the last seat on Contestant's Row.
Unfortunately, White didn't do so well in the game. Round after round, she gave her best guesses, but couldn't catch a break. In fact, she never moved on from Contestant's Row for a chance to win big on "The Price is Right” — of course, she scored a superior victory when she landed her lasting gig as co-host on "Wheel of Fortune" in 1982.
