The Dark Fan Theory That Changes Everything About Friends

By VICTORIA MILLER

For 10 seasons, Phoebe, Joey, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, and Ross revealed all sides of their personalities. They were hilarious to watch, but they were far from saints and one Reddit fan theory thinks that the hit sitcom was based on the seven deadly sins.

A redditor pointed out that a prideful Monica was super competitive, while greedy Rachel's materialistic nature was an ongoing theme on the show. Several of the friends were lustful, but Reddit gave that one to flirtatious Phoebe.

Gluttony was a no-brainer because of Joey’s eating habits, while wrath was given to short-tempered Ross. Sloth was bestowed upon Chandler based on his lazy approach to his unfulfilling job, and the seventh sin envy, went to Central Perk barista Gunther due to his jealousy of Ross.

Showrunners David Crane and Marta Kauffman have never confirmed that the show's characters were based on the seven deadly sins. However, 1960s sitcom "Gilligan's Island" was actually based on the sin list and a fact that showrunner Sherwood Schwartz has confirmed.
