Episode That
Finally Got Fans
To Turn On Dr.
Manning
By CHRISTIAN SCHOON
Dr. Natalie Manning, portrayed by Torrey DeVitto, is a polarizing character on “Chicago Med” who remains a subject of fan discussion, even after her exit in Season 6. Some fans dislike Manning’s stubbornness and shady practices, but there's one episode in particular that had many viewers jumping off the Natalie Manning fan train.
In the Season 5 episode "Got a Friend in Me," Manning violates parental rights concerning the treatment of a couple's child. DeVitto herself said, "I was nervous about the storyline [..] where Natalie locks the parents out of a little boy's room because they are refusing to allow [her] to treat him, and [she knows] if they discharge him, he may die."
Later, in Episode 10 of the same season, Natalie calls Protective Services about Will Halstead's young patient — behind Will's back — causing the boy to be taken away from his mother. Many fans believe this was the final nail of the coffin for Natalie, with social media comments including "Wow she's a terrible person and doctor" and "Took till S5 E10 but UGH NATALIE."
