The Big Broadway
Offer Seth
MacFarlane
Turned Down
By CAMERON ROY HALL
Beyond being the creator of “Family Guy” and “Orville,” Seth MacFarlane has recorded eight music albums, including both original tunes and cover songs. Combining his inclination for music and showbiz may seem like a natural step, but MacFarlane actually turned down a big offer from Broadway in the past.
During a 2022 Wired Autocomplete Interview, Seth MacFarlane discussed his near miss with Broadway, saying, "I remember years ago getting offered to come do 'Spamalot,' but I was too busy making 'Family Guy,' and, as attractive as that offer was, the timing didn't work out. But it's not out of the realm of possibility. I'm certainly open to it."
"Spamalot" is a musical version of the 1975 classic "Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail," and given his big-name status, it's probable that MacFarlane was offered the role of King Arthur, originated by Tim Curry. "Spamalot" would have been the perfect Broadway introduction for MacFarlane, but he's not ruling out a run in the future.
