Jim Parsons, renowned for playing Sheldon Cooper in “The Big Bang Theory,” originally debuted in a lesser-known sitcom from the 2000s.

“Ed,” a comedy that ran from 2000 to 2004 on NBC, marked Parsons’ first on-screen appearance, where he played a park ranger named Chet in the third season.

In the series, he shared scenes with Julie Bowen and John Slattery, both prominent actors, who played key characters in search of a wedding venue.

In a Vanity Fair interview, Parsons discussed his early career, reflecting on his time on “Ed,” and his appreciation for the inclusive nature of Bowen and Slattery on set.

The actor then described the anticipation of landing the lead role in “The Big Bang Theory,” from the detailed preparation for his audition to the unnerving wait for a response.

Despite the delay, Parsons’ agent finally confirmed he had secured the role, marking the beginning of his iconic role as Sheldon Cooper.
