The 2022 Emmy Awards are coming up, and like every award show, it needs a funny, charismatic, charming, quick-on-their-feet, and competent host. This year, the Emmys have decided to go with someone who’s never done it before, which would normally be cause for concern, but fans have little to worry about.
Former Nickelodeon star turned “Saturday Night Live” veteran Kenan Thompson will host the 2022 Emmy Awards. The news comes as Thompson is about to start his 20th season on “SNL,” and his two-season NBC sitcom “Kenan” was canceled.
Thompson had this to say about landing the job: “Being a part of this incredible evening where we honor the best of the television community is ridiculously exciting, and to do it on NBC — my longtime network family — makes it even more special.” He affirmed that he too is excited to see who wins and loses, “Like all TV fans, I can't wait to see the stars from my favorite shows.”
