“The Winchesters” is the new spin-off of The CW’s “Supernatural,” which will focus on the history of Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents from when John returns from the Vietnam War, learns of his monster-hunting legacy, and falls in love with Mary. Fans received the casting news this week that Meg Donnelly will play Mary and Drake Rodger will play John.

Meg Donnelly played the recurring role of Taylor Otto on ABC’s “American Housewife” and voiced the lead role in Disney’s animated series, “Addison's Moonstone Mystery" and its miniseries, "ZOMBIES: Addison's Monster Mystery.” Drake Rodger’s filmography includes "Murder RX," "The In Between," and the upcoming film "Quiet in My Town."

As for the sons, the show will also focus on the younger years of the eldest son, Dean. Jensen Ackles, who played the older Dean in “Supernatural,” is an executive producer and will provide narration to “The Winchesters” in some capacity, while Jared Padalecki (Sam) is not yet attached to the project.
