Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Has A Standout Character Who Might Get Their Own Spin-Off

Despite the sheer number of “Star Trek” shows on air today like “Star Trek: Picard” and “Star Trek: Discovery,” it seems as though the franchise might be expanding once again.
“Picard” showrunner Terry Matalas has hopes for a new spin-off focusing on a broader vision of the 25th century and passing the torch to the next generation.
Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick) from Season 3 of “Picard” could potentially anchor the new spin-off, but whoever would be in the cast, Matalas hopes to focus on a broader scale.
Matalas is excited by all of the legacy opportunities and characters like Kira Nerys from “Deep Space Nine” that a series set in the later 25th century could explore.
By checking in with, for instance, the Klingon Empire or “Deep Space Nine” in the 25th century, Matalas hopes to “get back to the 'Next Gen' roots of storytelling.”
