Seth MacFarlane Holds This Project Closest To His Heart
By SHANE O'NEILL
With hit series and films including "Family Guy," "American Dad!," "The Orville," "Ted," and "A Million Ways to Die in the West," Seth MacFarlane has unquestionably had a significant cultural impact. One has to question which of the bunch means the most to MacFarlane given how much each TV show and movie originates directly from him.
During an interview at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, MacFarlane revealed that “The Orville”—his science fiction comedy series about the crew of an intergalactic starship called the USS Orville—is the project that means the most to him. “It’s the one that I think is closest to my heart,” said MacFarlane, adding, “I don’t think I’ve had this much fun in years writing scripts.”
The show has made the jump over to Hulu, and its three seasons are now available on Disney+. There’s no news yet on Season 4 with MacFarlane saying, “The show is expensive to produce. It needs to justify its own existence with audience enthusiasm and viewership. So hopefully, Disney+ will give us that chance.”
