With so many actors now having played Batman, portrayals can now be compared based on thematic intention and tone, instead of by generation. It’s easy to make a comparison between Robert Pattinson in “The Batman” and Christian Bale in the “Dark Knight” trilogy, as they both depict the early years of the caped crusader in a way that is more grounded in reality than in fantasy.
When it comes to the numbers, it looks like Bale’s Batman is still in the lead, as he easily won a GameSpot poll about the best Batman with 66% of the 290,000 votes. Additionally, “The Dark Knight” holds a 94% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes to the 85% that “The Batman” has, and “The Dark Knight Rises” squeaks by it with an 87% as well.
However, it’s important to remember that this is only Pattinson’s first Batman film, and he hasn’t been included in many public polls, so it may only be a matter of time until he replaces Bale as the favorite Dark Knight. After all, some critics and fans are already calling him the best Batman.
