Disney+ Series:
What We
Know So Far

THIS ARTICLE THAT INVOLVES AN ONGOING NEWS STORY WAS last updated ON MARCH 10, 2022. THE FACTS OF THE STORY ARE ACCURATE AS OF THAT DATE.

In January 2022, Disney officially announced that the Disney+ TV adaptation of Rick Riordan's “Percy Jackson” novels has been greenlit after its lengthy development period. Riordan will co-write the pilot with Jon Steinberg of "Black Sails" fame, and Steinberg will co-produce with partner Dan Shotz. Here is what we know about the series' release date, cast, and plot.
An official release date probably won’t be released until filming begins but the estimated arrival could start streaming in late 2022. Eager fans should follow Rick Riordan and his wife Beth on Twitter for the latest developments, as they have been especially communicative about the process since the start of the show’s development in 2020.
Release Date
Variety has announced that Walker Scobell, best known for the role of Young Adam in the Netflix movie "The Adam Project,” will play Percy Jackson. There hasn't been any other casting news yet, but since the author wants to distance the series from the lackluster “Percy Jackson” movies, the actors from the films will probably not reprise their roles.
Cast

There is plenty of source material for the series with Riordan’s five novels and two companion books, “The Demigod Files” and “The Demigod Diaries.” Fans will have to wait and see if each book will get an individual season, or if all five books will get a single limited series treatment.
