A Brutally Honest
Explanation For
Turning Down
Scream 6
By CAROLYN JENKINS
Neve Campbell has portrayed Sidney Prescott in every film of the “Scream” franchise, starting with the first installment in 1996. Unfortunately, the beloved Sidney Prescott will not be returning for “Scream 6,” and she finally revealed the truth about why she refuses to go back.
Campbell expressed that she felt her paycheck for the sequel was less than ideal, saying, “I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years.” Her reason for leaving also comes down to gender issues, because she could not imagine any male star getting the same offer she did.
The actress said, “I couldn't walk on set feeling that — feeling undervalued and feeling the unfairness, or lack of fairness, around that.” Campbell’s legacy will live on as Sidney Prescott, and though she isn’t making an appearance in “Scream 6,” fans will get to see Hayden Panettiere make her comeback.
