Netflix is releasing a new anime adaptation of Capcom’s video game “Onimusha,” which has been described as “Resident Evil” with samurai elements.
The series centers on the samurai Musashi Miyamoto using the Oni Gauntlet to combat demons in Edo-era Japan. The main character is inspired by “Seven Samurai” star Toshiro Mifune.
Takashi Miike, known for films like “Ichi the Killer” and “Audition,” is supervising, while Shinya Sugai, who directed “Dragon's Dogma,” is directing the project.
With a “Devil May Cry” series in the works, it seems the streaming service has developed a strong working relationship with Capcom.
Starring industry stars and veterans like Daika Yamashita, Makoto Furukawa, and Toshihiko Seki, “Onimusha” aims to impress upon its November 2, 2023, release.
