NCIS Stars Confirm Suspicions About Mark Harmon's On-Set Behavior

By NIKKI MUNOZ

Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, is considered the face of “NCIS,” but Harmon exited the series on Season 19, Episode 4. Gibbs’ story is finished, at least for now, and a lot of cast and crew members have spoken about working with Harmon.

Co-star David McCallum said that Harmon helped calm the “chaos” of the show’s early production, and Michael Weatherly praised him as a “straightforward, approachable, calm, assertive guy.” Weatherly added that he appreciated Harmon even more when he became a leading actor himself on “Bull.”

Additionally, many “NCIS” stars said Harmon was a father figure who helped them in their careers, including Cote de Pablo. Sean Murray, who has known Harmon for decades, said of the show, “We wouldn't be here, 16 years later” without him.
