Miranda Cosgrove, who plays Carly Shay in the original and revival series of “iCarly,” revealed that the fans who watched the original series were their target audience when creating the show. In an interview with Variety, she said, “they're really who this is for. So that really gave us a lot of direction after we realized that we were all on board and wanted to do that.”
Cosgrove revealed that she and her castmates agreed to do the reboot since they wouldn’t be strictly limited to kid-friendly content. When “iCarly” was on Nickelodeon it was definitely made for kids, and Cosgrove described the process for the reboot, saying, “we had a lot of wiggle room because we got to work with Paramount+, and it’s not a kid’s show anymore.”
The actress further explained that the revival is still a family show that explores the characters’ adult lives, and they are lucky to have ended up on Paramount+ because of this. Cosgrove said, “I think it would have been kind of strange if we came back and host just primarily a kid show now that we're all grown up.”
