Mindhunter
Season 3:
What We
Know So Far

THIS ARTICLE THAT INVOLVES AN ONGOING NEWS STORY WAS last updated ON march 29, 2022. THE FACTS OF THE STORY ARE ACCURATE AS OF THAT DATE.

In an interview in 2020, the show’s director David Fincher explained that he doesn't have the time or energy to keep the show going. However, “Mindhunter” hasn’t technically been canceled by Netflix, with the show merely being on what the streamer is calling an "indefinite hiatus."
As if that wasn't bad enough news for fans, Netflix has released the series' central cast members from their contracts, which apparently included clauses for possible fourth and fifth seasons of the show. Company officials wisely decided it wouldn't be fair to possibly prevent the show’s in-demand stars from booking new gigs while everyone waited to see if Season 3 would materialize.
There is still a chance the show could return. Holt McCallany, who plays Bill Tench on the series, admitted that the show initially went into production with a five-season arc in place. "We did have a bible, a five-season bible, that existed when we began rehearsals for season one," he said. Here’s hoping we get to see that show bible put to use.
