John Wick Theory Explains How Keanu Reeves' Character Survives
By NICK STANIFORTH
According to an interesting fan theory, John Wick’s survival, up until the fourth film, was due to a very specific code that even his most notable enemies weren't willing to break.
Dedicated Wick watcher u/PsychedelicPistachio on the Reddit thread r/FanTheories says "There is an unspoken rule that your victim has to be [given] 'a fighting chance'[...]."
The fan added, "They have to be aware of your presence before you try anything lethal." This implies that any sneak attacks within the assassin community would be dishonorable.
In support of the theory, u/Shendare said it's less about killing Wick and more about his rivals showing that they can "beat him at his own up-close-and-personal game."
They want to prove they’re better killers, which explains why so many of John's encounters have been brutal, close-quarter kerfuffles, often ending with mutual respect.
