Jamie Foxx has made a name for himself in comedy, horror, and action movies, and “Day Shift” is no exception. In "Day Shift," Foxx stars as Bud Jablonski, a vampire hunter who is required to have a nerdy union rep, Seth, at his side to monitor his every move, and before filming, it was Foxx who had his eyes on Dave Franco to star with him.
Comedy is at the forefront of “Day Shift”, and Foxx thought Franco would be the perfect actor to take in the fun with him due to his comedic gifts. Foxx began courting the actor, saying, “I would send him pictures of himself and say, 'How are you this funny and this good-looking?'”
Foxx and director J.J. Perry were also impressed with Franco’s willingness to take some lumps by participating in the film's stunts. "[I was] brilliantly surprised with how athletic he was and how he told the stunt guys, 'Let's push it further,'" Foxx said.
