“FUBAR” follows CIA father-daughter duo Luke (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Emma Brunner (Monica Barbaro) as they travel the globe in search of Polonia (Gabriel Luna).
In the episode “Urine Luck,” Luke and Emma lead their team to a communist country near Azerbaijan called Sardovia, but while it may seem convincing, it is not a real country.
Television aficionados can be forgiven for thinking it’s real because the fictional country was also used as a setting on another action-packed show about espionage: “Scorpion.”
In a Season 3 episode of “Scorpion,” the gang heads to Sardovia, located in Eastern Europe, though closer to Belarus. It’s politically problematic and ruled by a dictatorship.
While the country isn’t real, it’s a great destination for television creators who want to portray dangerous countries without offending real-world nations.
