Is Niles Dead In The Frasier Reboot?

SPOILER ALERT!
While he may be absent from the reboot, Niles remains an integral component of "Frasier." Fortunately, the series has addressed what happened to him and whether he's even alive.
The new season contains a moment when Olivia mentions a sibling rivalry and then the camera draws focus to Frasier, which could hint the two simply aren't on speaking terms.
Seeing how Frasier spends time with Niles' son, David, and David hasn't mentioned anything about his father passing away, it's safe to say Niles is out there somewhere.
