THIS ARTICLE THAT INVOLVES AN ONGOING NEWS STORY WAS WRITTEN ON MAY 12, 2022. THE FACTS OF THE STORY ARE ACCURATE AS OF THAT DATE.

For most fans, "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull" was a disappointment, making the stakes for "Indiana Jones 5" about as high as possible. With star Harrison Ford turning 80 years old in 2022 and how long these films require to make, this will most likely be the last time fans get to see Indy as we know him.
The film has already faced multiple delays with an original release set in 2019, with Ford attached to star and Steven Spielberg set to direct. The rest of the delays took place due to Spielberg’s departure from the project, multiple script rewrites, and the pandemic, but now the film is currently set to premiere in theatres on June 30, 2023.
Release Date
Headlining the film will be Ford while Phoebe Waller-Bridge ("Fleabag") has been cast as the female lead. Most of the roles have yet to be specified but other actors that have signed on to the project include Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Toby Jones.
The Cast
Plot details have not been announced, but set photos revealed what looked like a battle between Roman soldiers, Nazi vehicles and props, and one scene recreating the 1969 NYC parade for the Apollo 11 astronauts. This could indicate that the plot involves time travel, but audiences will have to wait until closer to the film’s release date to get more information.
