I Am Legend 2
- What We Know So Far

In early March, it was announced that Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan would be co-starring and co-executive producing the sequel to 2007’s “I Am Legend,” with Akiva Goldsman —who co-wrote the first movie — writing the script. However, some questions have been raised involving Will Smith.
The first question is how the sequel will deal with Will Smith’s Dr. Robert Neville character, who seemingly sacrificed himself for humankind at the end of the first movie. One possibility is to use flashbacks and de-age Dr. Neville to a pre or mid-apocalyptic period; another possibility is to use the alternate ending in “I am Legend’s” DVD, where Neville abandons his research and joins a group of survivors in Vermont.
The second question is how production will be affected in light of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. As of this writing, there has been no news about this, and even before the Oscars, no director was attached to the project, but there is a good chance that production may be paused for a bit until the controversy dies down.
