Guardians Of The
Galaxy Vol. 3
Introduces A
Classic Villain To
The MCU
By JACOB WILLEFORD
Along with a slew of other exciting announcements for the MCU, the Marvel Studios panel at the 2022 San Diego Comic Con confirmed that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will be the last outing for our ragtag spacefaring crew. Though we still don’t know much about the plot, we now know that the High Evolutionary will be acting as the main antagonist.
This classic Marvel villain will be played by actor Chukwudi Iwuji, who may be best known to American audiences for his role as Clemson Murn on the DC Comics HBO Max show "Peacemaker." A Twitter video from the floor of Hall H shows Iwuji in full High Evolutionary costume, completely in-character as he scowls or smiles unnervingly at the crowd.
In the comics, the High Evolutionary was an English biologist named Herbert Wyndham whose obsession with the process of evolution led him to gain formidable abilities and powers. His role in “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” may be tied closely to William Poulter’s Adam Warlock, since he was heavily involved with Warlock’s origin story in the source material.
