While "House of the Dragon" is getting all kinds of praise from both critics and viewers, numerous time jumps and break-neck pacing of the show have left fans wondering how many seasons HBO plans to make. George R. R. Martin, writer of the book "Fire & Blood" which serves as an inspiration for the series, revealed the answer to that question.
Martin wrote on his blog, "It's going to take four full seasons of 10 episodes each to do justice to the Dance of the Dragons, from start to finish." His revelation is in accordance with the report by The Hollywood Reporter, which said HBO planned to run the series for three or four seasons in order to tell the entire civil war story.
Martin also shared his opinions regarding the time jumps and wrote that while he would have loved to give the series more episodes a season to flesh out many of the things the time jumps glossed over, it just wasn't practical. He felt that if the show had 13 episodes per season, many fans would complain that the series was too slow, so there's really no winning.
