Did The Big Bang
Theory Ending
Affect Young
When it was announced that Jim Parsons wanted to part ways with Sheldon Cooper and “The Big Bang Theory,” fans were concerned that his decision would mean a swift end to the fledgling “Young Sheldon” as well. While the conclusion of one show didn't mean the axing of another, did “The Big Bang Theory” ending affect “Young Sheldon” in any way?
In September 2019, only a few months after “The Big Bang Theory” series finale, the third season of “Young Sheldon” premiered on CBS — and Parsons' voice was still there in the background. The actor confirmed to TV Line that just because his time on “The Big Bang Theory” was over didn't mean that he would drop his responsibilities on “Young Sheldon.”
Despite Parsons' continued commitment to “Young Sheldon,” the spin-off has indeed been impacted by “The Big Bang Theory” ending. The parent show used to lead into “Young Sheldon,” and when it concluded, the spin-off took over its previous time slot. These changes may have contributed to the shrinking of the audience for “Young Sheldon.”
