Sig Hansen, captain of the F/V Northwestern on “Deadliest Catch,” has long been a favorite among the show’s fans. However, his family has been through some rough patches, and Hansen himself got into legal trouble for his poor decision-making during the summer of 2017.
Hansen was out partying with family members one night and ordered a Uber ride home, but the driver pulled over and asked them to submit another ride request after one person in the group tried to cancel their reservation. Hansen got angry, yelled, spat at the driver, and kicked a door hard enough to cause $1800 worth of damage.
Hansen pled guilty for his actions in June 2018, after which he was given a year of probation, ordered to abstain from drugs and alcohol during that time, and barred from getting within 500 feet of the driver he assaulted. He issued a heartfelt apology in which he took full responsibility for what happened, and he has had no incidents since 2019.
