Bob Odenkirk's Life
Was Saved Thanks
To One Man Not
Answering His Door
By MIKE BEDARD
On a recent podcast episode of "Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade," Odenkirk discussed his health scare in July 2021 when he suffered a small heart attack while filming "Better Call Saul" Season 6. He's all better now, but he revealed an intriguing tidbit that a big reason he's still here today is because of pure happenstance.
Dana Carvey, who also has a history of heart problems, ended the episode by inquiring into Odenkirk's health. While Odenkirk conveyed that he's all better and doing well, the actor revealed that the only reason he's still alive is due to one person not answering their door.
Odenkirk explains, "The [Automated External Defibrillator] device that Rosa Estrada used [...] She had that in her car because she was trying to return it to somebody she borrowed it from, and she'd been trying to return it for weeks. And this guy was never home." There wasn’t an AED device on set so if Estrada’s acquaintance would have answered the door Odenkirk would not be alive today.
