Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is set to release on July 21st, 2023, and the reviews are out. From its star-studded cast to its pink visuals, it has already become a cultural phenomenon.
Fans around the world are very interested in the film about the famous doll. Variety suggests that it could debut over $100 million domestically.
Audiences won’t be showing up to watch a dud. Looper critic Dominic Griffin said it is a “genre-bending, tonally audacious film that wrestles with the patriarchy and capitalism.”
“Barbie” already boasts a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes. While that number will likely change, the praise for Margot Robbie’s performance as the iconic doll will not.
The Australian actress is receiving universal acclaim. Alyssa Mora of IGN wrote, “There’s no doubt that Robbie deserves award attention for the awe-inspiring balancing act.”
Reviews will continue to come in, but for now, it looks like “Barbie” could become the summer’s biggest hit by grossing north of $220 million.
