After Jennette McCurdy outlined her alleged abuse at Nickelodeon in her memoir, several former stars have come forward about Dan Schneider’s behavior, including "Victorious" actor Daniella Monet. Schneider was fired from Nickelodeon in 2018 after accusations of verbal abuse and questionable treatment of young stars began to surface.
Monet and others told Insider about the numerous times Schneider advocated for sexually suggestive scenes and outfits, saying, "I wouldn't even wear some of that today as an adult." On at least one occasion, Monet claims to have urged Nickelodeon to prevent one of Schneider's scenes where the actress ate a pickle while also applying lip gloss, but her attempts were unsuccessful.
Former Nickelodeon writers also shared with Insider that gender discrimination was rampant during Schneider's tenure at Nick, with the female staffers he hired constantly degraded and forced to do ridiculous things. According to Monet, "None of Schneider’s shows credited more than two female writers in the entirety of their runs. 'Zoey 101' and 'Drake & Josh' had zero."
