Amy Schumer's Oscars Monologue Turns Into A Fierce Roast Session

By JENNIFER LIND-WESTBROOK

The Academy hired three comedians to host this year, and Amy Schumer wasted no time in getting to the jokes. Regarding “King Richard,” Schumer joked, "After years of Hollywood ignoring women's stories, this year we finally got a movie about the incredible Williams sisters' dad," a nod to criticism that the film focused on Venus and Serena Williams’ father, instead of them.

"Don't Look Up” was next to be roasted, with Schumer quipping, "I guess Academy members don't look up reviews.” Schumer reserved one of her best zingers for Leonardo DiCaprio, saying, "He's done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends."

She also addressed all of the couples in the room, including an incest joke involving famous siblings Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, stating, "It's a night for lovers." FInally, she marveled at how "Being the Ricardos" managed to be “a movie about Lucille Ball without even a moment that's funny."
