Canary played ruthless business tycoon Adam Chandler from 1983 until the 2011 cancellation, returning briefly in the 2013 reboot. Canary died of natural causes on November 16, 2015, following a long battle with Alzheimer's.
MacDonnell portrayed Dr. Joe Martin, a paragon of virtue and THE beloved patriarch of Pine Valley. He played Joe from 1970 through 2009, making guest appearances until the reboot was canceled in 2013. MacDonnell passed away in 2021 of natural causes, at age 93.
LaMura made a big splash as Mark Dalton in 1978, and after leaving the show in 1989, he continued to make guest appearances in the mid-nineties and mid-aughts. He passed away from lung cancer on September 11, 2017, at age 68.
Callahan debuted as Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Edmund Gresham Grey in 1992, and he went on to marry his co-star Eva LaRue, with whom he had one child before their 2005 divorce. He suffered a stroke and passed away on March 28, 2020, at the age of 66.
Nader's dashing Dimitri Marick came to Pine Valley in 1991, but Nader lost his job in 2001, due to some well-publicized personal problems. He would return for the reboot, but he passed away after a bout with cancer on August 23, 2021, at the age of 76.
