“You” follows a protagonist similar to Dahmer — he’s a murderer whose crimes always seem to go unnoticed. It features dark humor that, unlike in “Dahmer,” acts as the main attraction rather than a way to balance out the horror.

Both “Monster” and “American Horror Story: 1984” were created, produced, and written by Ryan Murphy, who has a fascination for serial killers. “1984” is set in the same era that Dahmer was active, and both shows dwell on the neon-lit “gay panic” and shame of the ‘80s.

Like “Monster,” “The Sinner” contains horrible acts that are visited and revisited from different angles in a desperate attempt to claw together some semblance of a reason. By the end, viewers are usually treated to a neat and tidy conclusion — something that can’t be said for “Monster.”
The Sinner
This critically beloved series follows the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit out of Quantico, as it attempts to get inside the mind of a killer — for instance, David "Son of Sam" Berkowitz or Charles Manson. Fans drawn to the psychological aspects of “Monster” will enjoy this show.
Mindhunter
Another Ryan Murphy Netflix mini-series, "Ratched" features a sympathetic lead villain, a totally amoral universe, and casual cruelty — just as in "Monster." It has a sort of fantastical vibe, giving it a weirdness that’s very reminiscent of “Monster.”
