Matt’s foray into the world of movies and TV came in the form of an internship at Republic Records. There, he learned the ins and outs of a department dedicated to placing its music into major motion pictures and television shows. After college, Matt began a career in professional writing as a creative copywriter for small businesses across the United States. In 2020, he served as a contributing writer to Unheard Gems — an online publication dedicated to covering the latest, greatest independent music releases around the globe. Currently, he channels his passion for all things pop culture into writing Looper features and crafts alt-rock tracks under the moniker Mads Francis. His latest EP, “The Violet Crown,” was released in the summer of ’21.


Matt Kalicky holds a degree in Communication from the University of Southern Maine. His studies focused on media effects, women in cinema, and science fiction.
