Experience
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Gil Macias has lived and breathed pop culture his entire life. His proximity to Tinseltown and the resulting up-close exposure to cartoons, superheroes, video games, and horror films sparked his creativity at an early age. Influenced by movies such as "Alien," "Halloween," and "A Nightmare on Elm Street," Gil gravitated toward art, film and writing, getting his start in journalism in high school. In 2006, Gil joined PLAYBOY as an Editorial Assistant, where he was instrumental to publishing each issue of the magazine. He eventually became the magazine's Managing Editor, and would go on to write features for both the print edition and Playboy.com, including interviews with actors, directors, musicians, and other personalities from the entertainment and video game industries. In addition to PLAYBOY, his writing has appeared in Inked magazine, where for eight years he was the contributing movies editor.
Education
Before landing his dream job at Playboy, Gil attended Long Beach City College and received an Associates Degree in Film, where his main concentration was film production and screenwriting.
