  • Emily has written multiple papers and reviews on the horror genre of film, television, and video games. Her latest research into the Zionist political movement in Israeli horror films was presented at the 2021 PCA/ACA National Conference where she served as a session chair in the Horror and Politics in Religion Panel.
  • Emily served as the Senior Reviews Editor for her university's online magazine, where she wrote reviews for various video games, television series, and films.
  • Emily has directed and produced multiple short films and documentary projects. Her most recent was a short narrative film about a heist gone wrong titled "Locked In."

Experience

During her undergraduate studies, Emily was the Editor-In-Chief of her university's award-winning online magazine, Byte, for two years. During this time, she ran a film podcast titled "Input 2" and a column called "Documenting Docs" that explored documentary films from an academic perspective. Emily also contributed to her college's paper, The Ball State Daily, providing reviews for current film releases. During her undergraduate program, Emily served as a production intern at WFYI Indianapolis. As a press member, Emily has covered film festivals such as Heartland Film Festival and Indy Shorts International Film Festival, gaming conventions like Gen Con and Indy Comic Con, and local annual events such as Indy Scream Park and the Broad Ripple Zombie Walk.

Education

Emily graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. from Ball State University in Telecommincations (concentration in Film and Media Studies) and minors in Japanese and Professional Writing in Emerging Media. Currently, she is pursuing an M.A. in Telecommunications from Ball State University.
