Doctor Who Drops New Christmas Special Trailer
Christmas will be bittersweet for Doctor Who fans.
The BBC released a new trailer for "Twice Upon a Time," this year's Christmas special, and it will be the final ride for Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor.
In this chapter, the Time Lord teams up with Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) and his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley of Game of Thrones), for one last adventure. The two Doctors are stranded in the Arctic and refuse to face regeneration while a World War I captain who is destined to die on the battlefield plays a part in the story. There are also enchanted glass people who steal their victims from frozen time, so you know things will get crazy.
We'll also see the introduction of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, the first female Doctor in the show's storied history.
The episode will air on BBC America on Dec. 25, followed by the all-new special Doctor Who: Farewell to Peter Capaldi. Narrated by actor Colin McFarlane (The Dark Knight, Doctor Who), the show will feature archive footage and interviews, looking back at Capaldi's era. It also features exiting showrunner Steven Moffat reflecting upon his time as a writer and then later as executive producer.
"Twice Upon a Time" will also screen at select theaters a few days after it premieres.
