The Worst Thing Bode Did In Locke & Key Season 3

Warning: This article contains spoilers for "Locke & Key" Season 3.

Well, folks, Netflix's "Locke & Key" Season 3 marks the final chapter of the Locke family's adventures in Matheson, Massachusetts. Nina (Darby Stanchfield), Tyler (Connor Jessup), Kinsey (Emilia Jones), and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) have endured countless challenges and hindrances at Keyhouse in an attempt to find a sense of normalcy in their lives.

Even though Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira) is seemingly gone for good, a fresh demon villain –- a reincarnated British soldier from the Revolutionary War named Captain Frederick Gideon (Kevin Durand) who was introduced at the end of Season 2 –- factors in as the central antagonist this season. Whew, the Lockes can never catch a break!

Through all of their demon fighting and key discoveries, the Lockes have certainly made their fair share of mistakes throughout the seasons. Hey, nobody's perfect, especially Bode, the youngest member of the Locke family who did something rather foolish in the 3rd season, unaware of the consequences that would befall him and his loved ones.

Bode uses a new key that accidentally brings Dodge to the present

At the pivotal dramatic height of Season 2, Episode 7 ("Best Laid Plans"), the Locke siblings find themselves in a sticky situation. Their attempts to defeat the two primary demonic villains of the season — teenager Gabe (Griffin Gluck) aka Dodge in female form, and his cunning, demon-contaminated sidekick, Eden (Hallea Jones) — go awry. As Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode set a trap at Keyhouse for Dodge and Eden, their plan doesn't quite pan out as they had hoped.

In the midst of their fighting, Dodge/Gabe uses the Chain Key –- a key that utilizes the Great Lock, originally used to unleash a whole series of chains to pin down an intruder –- to confine Kinsey and then Bode. Uncle Duncan (Aaron Ashmore) and Kinsey's romantic love interest Scot (Petrice Jones) are also helpless.

Bode uses the newly discovered time travel key called Timeshift Key in Season 3, Episode 3, to go back in time to the same day of Gabe and Eden attacking the Locke siblings, Uncle Duncan, and Scot. Bode announces to everyone that he's from the future, explaining that Dodge didn't win. Consequently, his interference with the sequence of events at that moment changed the timeline, prompting Dodge to chase him. Right as the timer on Bode's phone runs out, Dodge grabs his leg and gets transported back to 2022.

In the present day, Dodge uses the Ghost Key to switch bodies with Bode and tricks him into becoming a ghost. Dodge shuts the door on Bode's ability to get back into Keyhouse to aid his family and friends. Subsequently, Bode's major slip-up with the Timeshift key causes a whole lot of chaos for the Lockes in their mission to keep all of the keys out of Gideon's possession.
