The Law & Order: SVU Friendship That Fans Feel Is Overlooked

After debuting in 1999, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is the longest-running live-action primetime series in American TV history (via The Hollywood Reporter). With such an incredible run, it's no surprise that the show has won many notable awards. According to IMDb, Mariska Hargitay, who portrays Capt. Olivia Benson, has earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama, a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series, four Gracie Allen Awards for Outstanding Female Lead, and a People's Choice Award for Favorite Drama TV Star.

This series from NBC's "Law & Order" brand brings the lives of the SVU of the New York City Police Department to life on screen. The elite squad of detectives investigates crimes of sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence.

Of course, with so much heaviness, fans can't help but appreciate the well-written and meaningful relationships formed on the show. However, there's one friendship that fans feel is severely overlooked and is the real gem of the series.

What makes Olivia Benson and Odafin Tutuola's friendship so special

While Hargitay has been on the show since the pilot episode, Ice-T later joined the series in the season 2 premiere. Reddit user u/Free-Connection-8977 shared a specific example of why their friendship is so beautiful, writing, "I think this episode was one of many that further reestablished, the love I had for fin & live friendship! Especially when she was having that panic attack and the fact that fin was the only one who really knew about her group therapy. I love them when they got partnered up because fin had liv's back no matter what!"

u/ovoxo13 not only expressed that the two deserve more love but pointed out that while they might be an "unlikely pairing," they always have each other's backs no matter the situation. Considering it thankfully looks like "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" won't be coming to an end any time soon, who knows what's next for this dynamic duo! Fans definitely can't wait.
