Jordan Peele Confirms What We Suspected All Along About His Next Project After Nope
Who would have guessed that Jordan Peele of "MadTV" and "Key & Peele" fame would become the next great maestro of horror? Following in the footsteps of John Carpenter and Wes Craven, Peele has delivered one chilling tale after the next with "Get Out" and "Us," leading to his most recent project, "Nope." His newest movie is currently shrouded in mystery, but based on the trailer and marketing materials, we know it follows a group of residents in a California gulch who witness something chilling.
It remains to be seen if and how aliens factor into the mix, but audiences are chomping at the bit to learn more about Peele's latest offering. One thing we can be sure of is that there will be ample horror and plenty of comedy entering the mix, both of which have become staples of Peele's directorial efforts. It seems as though the actor-turned-director plans on staying close to those sensibilities if comments he made at the "Nope" premiere are any indication.

Jordan Peele occupies a space all his own in the current cinematic landscape. No one makes movies like him nowadays, which are effectively horror flicks infused with comedy sprinkled with ample social commentary. He pretty much admitted that's his bread and butter in an interview with Deadline at the "Nope" premiere, where he described his personal style as, "A little bit of horror, a little bit of comedy; I'm always going to try and give you a big show."
As a follow-up, he was asked if he had any plans to venture outside of that area, and it sounds like fans can expect Peele to remain firmly planted in that wheelhouse. As he put it, "I will stay within this realm that I love which is, I think, the only way I know how to view the world and how to tell stories at this point." No doubt that will come as good news to Peele's fans, who crave original horror stories. Hearing Peele will continue to deliver exceptional original stories that fuse politics with horror as opposed to venturing into big-budget intellectual property is a great thing for fans of the genre, and it's all the more reason to keep one's eyes on what Peele plans on doing next.
"Nope" arrives in theaters on July 22.
