Preacher Renewed For Season 3

Preacher fans, your prayers have been answered. 

Seth Rogen, the series' producer, announced Thursday evening that AMC picked up Preacher for a third season. The renewal sees the show returning in 2018 for a 13-episode run. 

Based on the DC Vertigo comic book by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher follows Dominic Cooper as the titular Texas preacher Jesse Custer, whose body is taken over by a mysterious entity known as Genesis, which grants him the ability to force people to do whatever he demands of them. When Jesse's power pulls the interest of two angels, Fiore (Tom Brooke) and DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef), things get far more complex than they'd ever been before. Jesse teams up with his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire called Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) to venture through a topsy-turvy world filled with creatures from heaven, hell, and all dimensions in between. W. Earl Brown, Derek Wilson, Ian Colletti, Graham McTavish, Pip Torrens, Noah Taylor, Julie Ann Emery, Jackie Earle Haley, Ricky Mabe, Jamie Anne Allman, Nathan Darrow, Malcolm Barrett, Ronald Guttman, Justin Prentice, and Amy Hill round out the cast. 

Rogen, alongside his producing partner Evan Goldberg, developed Preacher for television. Breaking Bad creative Sam Catlin serves as showrunner, also executive producing with Rogen and Goldberg. James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures, Neal H. Moritz and Ori Marmur of Original Film, and Vivian Cannon, Jason Netter, and Ken F. Levin split executive producing responsibilities as well. The series is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios. 

News of Preacher snagging a third season comes amidst Rogen and Goldberg's preparation to launch their second entry into the television scene, the Hulu sci-fi comedy series Future Man starring Josh Hutcherson. The streaming site is slated to drop the entire first season on November 14. 

As aforementioned, Preacher is expected to return to AMC for season three sometime in 2018. We'll update you when an exact launch date is confirmed.
