Tatiana Maslany, Evan Peters, And More Cast In Ryan Murphy's Pose
Just a day after Ryan Murphy made history by casting the largest number of transgender actors in series regular roles in his upcoming television series Pose, he has tacked on a handful of well-known stars to the roster.
Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany, American Horror Story actor Evan Peters, House of Cards alum Kate Mara, and Dawson's Creek legend James Van Der Beek have joined the pilot, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Maslany will play a modern dance teacher who sees something special in Damon, played by previously announced cast member Ryan Jamaal Swain. Peters will play Stan, one half of a New Jersey could who "get get sucked into the glamor and intrigue of '80s New York City." Mara will play his character's significant other, Patty, and Van Der Beek is on board to portray Stan's "financial kingpin boss." They will star alongside trans actors Angelica Ross as Candy, Indya Moore as Angel, Dominique Jackson as Elektra, Hailie Sahar as Lulu, and MJ Rodriguez as Blanca.
Set in the Big Apple in the 1980s, Pose explores different elements of life and society, like the downtown literary culture and the luxurious ball culture. Murphy co-created the series with Brad Falchuk, with whom he has worked on Glee and American Horror Story, and Steven Canals. American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are attached to executive produce alongside Alexis Martin Woodall (American Horror Story, Feud, The Normal Heart,) and Sherry Marsh (Vikings).
The pilot episode of Pose is slated to film in November. If picked up to series, Pose will become Murphy's fourth show at FX.
