MCU Fans Think Thor: Love And Thunder Just Laid The Groundwork For This Powerhouse Character

Contains spoilers for "Thor: Love and Thunder"

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an absolute behemoth when it comes to building a cohesive experience across films. Each movie or TV series has a tendency to set up a new ally or enemy, and teams are built up and torn down. Meanwhile, big bads like Kang (Jonathan Majors) and Thanos (Josh Brolin) get plenty of time to set the foundations of their grand schemes that involve reducing the population of all living things by 50% or controlling all of existence. With plans like these, it makes sense why the MCU likes to take its time to establish the stakes.

Beyond fearsome enemies, the MCU also likes to introduce powerful new heroes who will aid in the upcoming battles. Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) was teased at the end of "Avengers: Infinity War," the magically inclined Clea (Charlize Theron) at the end of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," and the engineered Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) at the end of "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." As such, some fans have recently begun to speculate about a potential new character introduced at the end of "Thor: Love and Thunder," but which hero do they think will be joining the MCU in the near future?

Some fans think Gorr's daughter will become Captain Universe

Taking to the subreddit r/marvelstudios, u/DrYoshiyahu asked if Gorr's daughter is an established character from Marvel Comics, the source material for many of the MCU movies. Redditor u/NoneOfOurConcern replied, "It appears they are setting her up to be a stand[-]in for the character/moniker Captain Universe who serves as the guardian of eternity. Plays a relatively big role in the Hickman run of Avengers that lead up to Secret Wars which is where all the incursion stuff from [Multiverse of Madness] is no doubt heading in ten years."

Referred to as Love at the end of the movie, the young girl is played by Chris Hemsworth's daughter, India, as confirmed by Hemsworth on Twitter. For those who do not have knowledge of lesser-known Marvel characters, Captain Universe is a moniker that has been used by several different characters. According to Marvel, the various Captain Universes harness their abilities from an extra-planar and semi-sentient energy known as the Uni-Power, which comes from a dimension that was created by Celestial-like beings known as Makers.

The Uni-Power has manifested several times in moments of great need and has granted its fantastic and variable powers to many people, like Peter Parker and Bruce Banner. Essentially, Captain Universe acts as a guardian of eternity. This means that Love, if fan speculation is to be believed, will eventually become a protector of all life. This would be in complete opposition to her father, Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), whose purpose in life is to end all gods. Considering her rather unique perspective, this could be the direction the MCU is headed in with the growing threat of the Multiverse.
